Habitat for Humanity Let’s Open the Door
For Habitat for Humanity’s 50th anniversary, I was selected as the featured Houston artist for Let’s Open the Door, a traveling public art campaign exploring what safe, stable housing makes possible.
My illustration celebrates the idea of home as more than a physical space it’s family, culture, safety, and belonging.Inspired by my own family, I created a Houston gathering filled with personal details, including a game of Spades and a floral tribute to my mother, Rose, who regularly opened our home to people in our community.
Using hand sketching and digital illustration, I wanted the work to maintain a human quality while reflecting the diversity and energy of Houston. The final illustration was transformed into a full-scale interactive door installation, connecting visual storytelling, public art, and social impact.
The campaign was exhibited across New York City, Washington D.C., Orlando, Atlanta, London, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, and Oakland.
